Jurgen Klopp has paid an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota.

The German coach once called Jota 'the perfect signing' after the forward's seamless arrival at Anfield from Wolves in September 2020.

He spent four years as the Portuguese star's manager, and was known for building strong relationships with his players.

And so Klopp revealed his devastation at the news of Jota's passing with a post on Instagram.

"This is a moment where I struggle - there must be a bigger purpose, but I can't see it," said the manager.

"I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother André.

"Diogo was a not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father!

We will miss you so much!

"All my prayers, thoughts and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends and everyone who loved them!

"Rest in peace - Love"

Diogo Jota's Portugal teammate Pepe has paid respects to the Liverpool star with a post on Instagram.

"It was with great sadness that I received the news of the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre," Pepe wrote.

"An untimely, painful loss that leaves us all poorer - as colleagues, as friends and as football lovers.

"At this moment of deep sorrow, I send the family, friends and all those who loved them my most sincere condolences.

UEFA have announced that a tribute will be made in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother at the Women's Euros.
