People lined the streets to pay their respects

People lined the streets ahead of the church and broke into applause at various moments during a heartbreaking mourning.

Those outside held a respectful silence as the service was broadcast on a speaker so that the public could also pay their tribute to two people who meant so much.

Incredibly moving and emotional service

An incredibly moving and emotional service was held inside Matriz de Gondomar church as Diogo Jota and Andre Silva were laid to rest.

It was an extremely emotional day as everyone inside and outside the church was still trying to process this unimaginable and tragic loss.

The two clearly meant so much to each team they represented as people from Porto, Portugal and Liverpool all provided emotional tributes in their memory.

The congregation starts at the funeral of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva being held at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar in the town of Gondomar near Porto.

In this prayer, in mass we have heard gospel.

"We are here in solidarity and love and both are stronger than death," it continued.
