Outside the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar a briefing has been provided to the media.

Understandably, the family wants to the ceremony to be private and that yesterday's wake was found too instense after hundreds made their way to pay their respects.

The sound of the service will be played outside but nobody is to enter the church and an area is being created for people to gather.

Jota's former team-mate Nelson Semedo, who he played alongside at Wolves and internationally has arrived for the funeral.

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez has also arrived.

Appearing on ESPN's Ball Knowledge in January of this year, Jota was asked what players he enjoyed watching the most, and why.

Without skipping a beat, Jota said: "My brother," before adding: "My brother plays in the second division in Portugal, [he is] by far the one I most enjoyed."

Diogo Jota's funeral is set to start at 10am today at the main church in his hometown of Gondomar, near Porto.

An array of football stars, including many of his Liverpool team mates, are expected to attend.

They include Kop boss Arnie Slot, captain Virgil Van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, Alexis MacAllister, Conor Bradley, Federico Chhiesa and Wataru Endo.

Former players, including Jordan Henderson and James Milner, are also expected.

Darwin Nunez, Bernardo Silva and Diogo Dalot were all seen attending the public wake for Jota on Friday.

Among them, was captain Virgil van Dijk, former skipper Jordan Henderson, Andy Robertson - who penned his own emotional tribute on social media - Darwin Nunez, and manager Arne Slot.

They will be joined by a further Liverpool contingent, including FSG's Chief of Football Michael Edwards, and the Kop's Sporting Director Richard Hughes.
