There is an update on the funeral of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota.
Football fans around the world received devastating news on Thursday morning confirming the death of the Liverpool striker and his footballer brother, Andre.
The duo died in a car crash in Spain, with reports confirming that Jota was on his way back to the UK when the incident happened.
The striker, it has been gathered, had undergone a pulmonary surgery and was advised by the doctors not to fly.
As such, he was on his way to getting a ferry in Spain when the incident happened.
And now, according to a local priest in Portugal, Jota’s funeral will begin at 3pm on Friday afternoon.
He told CNN Portugal: “The bodies of the brothers will arrive at the resurrection chapel for the wake, which will take place tomorrow, and then the funeral will be at 10am on Saturday.”
“We’re available to celebrate [their life] with everyone and to share the pain and the Christian hope.”
Daily Mail reports that the wake will take place in São Cosme, a half-hour drive from his home city of Porto, northern Portugal, where he married his childhood sweetheart Rute in a Catholic service packed with family and friends less than two weeks ago.
It will be followed by the funeral at 10am on Saturday.
