Liverpool striker Diogo Jota has named the best goal he has scored in a red shirt.
Jota has distinguished himself as not just one of Liverpool’s best ever finishers, but one of the best the Premier League has seen.
Since moving to Anfield in the summer of 2020, the Portuguese forward has scored 57 goals in 148 appearances for Liverpool.
Jota’s shot conversion rate is also something that sets him apart from many Liverpool and Premier League strikers.
According to Opta, since shot data has been available in the Premier League, of players to score 20+ goals for Liverpool, only Divock Origi (20.8%) has a better shot conversion percentage than Jota’s 19.3% (38 goals from 197 total shots as at January this year).
The EA Sport loving Portuguese forward has scored all kinds of goals for Liverpool, although he is best known for his instinctiveness, executing his goals with with tremendous authority and composure.
The 27-year-old has already scored for Liverpool this season, opening the scoring for the Red’s in our 2-0 win over Ipswich in the first game of the season.
Jota has named his best goal for the club.
When asked about his best goal for Liverpool, Jota did not go for one of his trademark instinctive goals.
The 27-year-old named his goal at Anfield against Arsenal.
“So my favourite Liverpool goal was the one I scored against Arsenal at Anfield,” he said.
“The one I dribbled past a few players, including the keeper?
I think it was a good goal and everyone in the stadium enjoyed it.”
The said goal came in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Arsenal in November 2021.
Receiving a lose ball at the edge of the box, Jota dibbled a few Arsenal defenders, before taking the ball round Aaron Ramdsale to slot home and score Liverpool’s second goal of the game.
Arsenal are one of Jota’s favourite opponents, with the Portuguese forward scoring six times against the Gunners since joining Liverpool.
