Liverpool will be hoping for a repeat of their previous trip to Atalanta when they kick off in their Europa League quarter-final.
The Reds were beaten 3-0 by the Serie A club in the first leg last week at Anfield. Gianluca Scamacca scored a brace with Mario Pasalic also finding the back of the net for visitors on a disappointing night for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp and Co. will still have the belief they can turn around the tie with a significantly improved result and performance in Italy. The Reds travel to the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday night for the second leg, looking to overcome a 3-0 deficit in a European competition for the first time since the famous Champions League semi-final against Barcelona in 2019.
Liverpool have only ever played one match away at Atalanta in their history, and the same result this time around would see the Reds progress to the semi-final of the Europa League. The last time Liverpool travelled to the Gewiss Stadium was in November 2020 during the Champions League group stage.

In that game, Liverpool claimed a 5-0 win in Italy to comfortably secure the three points. The game was played with no fans in the stadium due to the COVID-19 restrictions on fans attending football matches across Europe.
Diogo Jota scored his first hat-trick for Liverpool in the game, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane also on the score sheet in Italy. The Reds do not have Mane in their squad anymore, but Salah and Jota will both be determined to be on the score sheet in Bergamo once again.
Jota has only recently returned to the matchday squad for Liverpool after spending two months on the sidelines with a knee injury. He made his return from the bench against Atalanta in the first leg last week and will be hoping to be handed a start for the return leg in Italy on Thursday night.
