The video will start in 8 Cancel Liverpool new boy Diogo Jota has been backed to leave Anfield and 'go higher' after a scintillating start to his career on Merseyside.

Jota only signed a five-year deal in September but his old team-mate at Pacos de Ferreira, Stephen Eustaquio, believes the 23-year-old will not remain at Liverpool.

In 11 appearances this season, Jota has scored seven goals, which include a hat-trick in the Champions League win over Atalanta.

He told Spanish outlet La Vanguardia : “Jota was in Pacos, Atletico Madrid, Porto, Liverpool.

The Premier League champions surprised many when they spent £41million on the Portuguese attacker in the summer but after just two months he has proven to be money well spent.

The Brazilian missed Liverpool's last three matches with a hamstring injury but has resumed training and is in contention to start alongside Joel Matip in central defence.

But Jota's biggest impact has been to force Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to tweak his usual 4-3-3 formation to accommodate him alongside Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
