Tributes to Diogo Jota have been left outside Liverpool’s training ground as the club’s players and staff return to training for the first time since the forward’s tragic death last week.

The soccer world remains in mourning following Jota’s death at the age of 28 following a car accident in Spain last Thursday.

He had been traveling with his brother Andre Silva, who also died in the crash, as he was making his way to catch a ferry ahead of his return to training on Merseyside.

The brothers’ funeral took place on Saturday in their hometown of Gondomar in Portugal, with the majority of Liverpool’s players and head coach Arne Slot in attendance.

Having delayed their return to training on Friday due to the tragedy, the Reds began to report back to the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Conor Bradley all seen arriving for the first session of pre-season.

While driving in, the players will have seen a number of tributes left by supporters outside the training ground, with flowers, banners and balloons bearing Jota’s number 20 being left outside the entrance.

Fans have also left hundreds of tributes to Jota outside Anfield, while books of condolence have been opened by the club, with supporters still able to sign the physical book at the stadium as well as the online book.

As well as the returning members of last season’s squad, a number of new faces will be arriving for their first training sessions with Liverpool this week.

Jeremie Frimpong was among those pictured driving into the training ground on Tuesday, with the right-back having become the first new signing of the summer when he completed his move from Bayer Leverkusen.
