Diogo Jota’s final goal for Liverpool proved to be a memorable one as he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Everton in April.
The football world is grieving the Liverpool forward, who died alongside his brother Andre Silva in a car accident on Thursday.
The 28-year-old was part of the Liverpool squad that clinched the Premier League title last season.
His final league goal decided the Merseyside Derby at Anfield and saw Jota surpass more than one Premier League legend in the all-time scoring list, including former England captain David Beckham.
The final goal of Jota’s career saw him receive a backheel from Luis Diaz on the edge of the box, just short of the hour mark.
The Portuguese forward dribbled through several Everton defenders before firing the ball beyond Jordan Pickford.
It was Jota’s 63rd goal in 190 Premier League appearances and his 47th for Liverpool.
That decisive finish propelled Arne Slot's side closer to the league title and saw Jota move ahead of Manchester United icon David Beckham and Arsenal legend Robert Pires’ Premier League goal tallies (62).
The Portugal international spent seven years in the English top-flight, scoring 16 times for Wolves across two seasons in the Premier League before sealing a £41million move to Liverpool in 2020.
Meanwhile, Beckham fell just short of Jota’s goal tally in 265 appearances for United.

Shortly after the Merseyside Derby in April, Jota confessed that his winner ranked among the best goals of his career.
