And, even though rival fans are confused by how the Reds have managed to spend so much and attract such good players, it’s clear that they mean business this term.

And, although it took until deadline day for his contract to be signed, the Reds finally got their man.

“What’s wrong with Alexander Isak standing his ground and saying I want to go to Liverpool,” Hart said.

Sutton then replied with: “It’s all about the contract because he’s under contract.”

Hart then said: “Well, it’s obviously not because he’s gone, the contract means nothing, you can say you want the contract to mean something, but it doesn’t because he’s gone to Liverpool.

Sutton then added: “I know he’s gone, but he’s getting slammed for going and he’s got his own way.

“Obviously, he doesn’t [care what anyone thinks], he’s selfish, and he’s disrespectful.”

The 2025-26 season is likely to be full of ridicule for Isak.

No matter which team he’s facing this season, if he doesn’t perform to a high standard, it’s clear that he’s going to be targeted by fans as well as the media.

Isak’s £125million transfer to Liverpool managed to break the British transfer record fee by some distance, and if he doesn’t at least put up similar numbers to what he did for Newcastle last season, most will deem his move a failure.

Of course, he has six years to prove his worth due to the length of his contract, but if he wants to prove why Richard Hughes broke the bank for him, he needs to score as many goals as possible.
