A Dockside hotel where you can rub shoulders with Liverpool FC players is one of the best in the UK.

The Titanic Hotel is among the finalists for VisitEngland’s tourism industry awards.

Seven Merseyside businesses were nominated across the categories of entertainment, hotel, family, and international.



The 52 finalists, selected by handpicked industry experts, will compete in 16 core categories at the national awards later this year.

The Titanic Hotel hopes to come away as a winner at the awards on Wednesday, June 4.

It's a difficult job sometimes, but someone has got to do it, and on this occasion, it was me.

“So, as the working week came to an end for many, it sadly continued for me and my partner as we packed a change of clothes and made the short journey out of the city centre to Stanley Dock for a spa afternoon and overnight stay at the Titanic Hotel.

“As I walked through the entrance, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's elegant setting, and it was easy to see why people chose this grand building to be the backdrop for memories that will last a lifetime.

“I was greeted by a friendly member of staff and received my room key while standing next to a magnum of Lanson outside the Champagne bar, which added a touch of glamour that would set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

“Our room was set on the top floor and the panoramic view of the city's waterfront from the large bay window filled the room with light and provided an opportunity to soak in just what an exciting part of the city the hotel is located in.

“I'm not usually the sort of person who is able to switch off enough to enjoy a spa weekend but I felt completely rejuvenated and like a new man after a much needed detox at the Maya Wellness Blue, which highlighted the importance of taking a couple of hours out of the day for yourself.

“Feeling revitalised after the spa session, we had now also worked up an appetite so it was fortunate it wasn't too long before we were about to enjoy a three course meal inside the hotel's Stanley's Bar and Grill.

Although he was presumably in a rush on his way to training so we sadly did not get chance to catch up about the time we both graced the ECHO front page alongside Louise Redknapp.”
