Liverpool should not spend £150million to sign Alexander Isak, according to Jamie Carragher.
The Premier League champions have spent nearly £300m already this summer, including smashing their transfer record with an £116m deal for Florian Wirtz.
Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike are among the other high-profile arrivals at Anfield, meaning head coach Arne Slot has strengthened his squad significantly ahead of the new season.
However, links to Isak refuse to go away.
This is even after reports claimed interest in the striker had ended once their £110m plus add-ons bid was rejected by Newcastle.
It is now believed that stance has changed and Liverpool could fund a British record transfer by cashing in on Darwin Nunez who is said to be closing in on a move to Al-Hilal.
Amid reports that Magpies are holding out for closer to £150m for their talisman, funds brought in from the Nunez sale can only help Liverpool get closer to that figure.
That said, Carragher has shared his reservations about a potential deal despite being an admirer of Isak.
Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Carragher said: “He (Isak) will be an amazing signing but from a fan’s point of view for myself, I don’t want Liverpool to spend £150million on Isak.

“There’s something about Liverpool buying another striker (Ekitike), and he’s backup.
Something about it doesn’t feel right to me.

“I look at Isak, and he’s obviously thrown his toys out the pram once Arsenal signed a striker and Liverpool signed a striker.
It feels a bit messy to me now.
“In terms of what Liverpool have done in the summer by bringing in players, they’ve spent a lot of money and it doesn’t feel like the Liverpool way of doing things so much.”
