Liverpool are currently in pursuit of a new manager ahead of Jurgen Klopp stepping down from the Anfield hotseat at the end of the season.

Over the past couple of days, speculation involving the Reds and one particular manager has intensified massively.

The coach in question is Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot, who is now said to be in talks with Liverpool about replacing Klopp.

Earlier this week, TBR Football sources claimed that the Reds are now in talks with the Dutch club over their manager, who is keen on the move.

However, the report did also claim that Liverpool haven’t closed the door on other candidates, and are still in talks with other coaches.

One manager whose name has been doing the rounds in terms of Anfield links is Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi.

The Guardian reported in March that the Reds have made a tentative enquiry to see whether the 44-year-old would be interested in their future vacancy.

Now, Pep Guardiola has sung De Zerbi’s praises ahead of a match that Liverpool fans will no doubt be following anxiously.

On Thursday, Brighton host Manchester City, and fans of Liverpool and Arsenal will be hoping the hosts can do them a huge favour by winning.

At his press conference, Guardiola said, as per BBC Sport: “My admiration for him is growing every season.

“They had a lot of problems and important players like Colwill, Caicedo, Mac Allister were sold.

“They have a lot of injuries and have played in three competitions, but the way they play is always there.

“He is doing an incredible job at Brighton.”

While it looks as though things are progressing between Liverpool and Slot, the race still seems to be open, and with that in mind, De Zerbi can’t be ruled out.

The Italian is a young, talented and charismatic manager with a huge future ahead of him and has already shown he has what it takes in the Premier League.
