Daniel Farke has revealed that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ready to go straight into the Leeds United squad after his arrival.
The striker was a free agent following the end of his contract at Everton, where he netted 71 goals in 273 appearances across all competitions — including a club-record 57 Premier League strikes.
After the striker was linked with moves to Newcastle, Sunderland and Man United this summer, Calvert-Lewin has sealed a switch to Elland Road, with Leeds officially confirming the news on Friday afternoon.
Whites boss Farke is very optimistic about what his new striker can bring to the side.
Leeds will need a regular source of goals if they’re to stand a chance of ending the run of six consecutive promoted teams being relegated straight back to the Championship.
Calvert-Lewin certainly has the potential to provide that, despite his struggles with injuries in recent years.

And Farke is wasting no time integrating the 11-time England international, throwing him straight into training — potentially setting up an eye-catching debut against former club Everton on Monday night.
“He will be a member of our squad from this afternoon on,” Farke told reporters on Friday, just before Calvert-Lewin’s transfer was officially confirmed (LeedsLive).

As mentioned, Calvert-Lewin has had a rough time with injuries in recent years, and that has certainly affected his form, with the 28-year-old scoring just 17 Premier League goals over the last four seasons combined.
However, his returns of 13 and 16 league strikes in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons under Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti, respectively, serve as a reminder of what he’s capable of at this level.
Farke is backing his new signing to return to those levels, following some obvious considerations to his fitness.
“Dominic has a really good age and is proven at the Premier League level.
He scored nearly 60 goals at this level.
He has all the skills you would like your striker to have,” the German coach said.
“The last few seasons were interrupted by injuries, but he played 26 games last season.
