Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister gave different answers when asked what it's been like playing under Arne Slot compared to Jurgen Klopp.

Reds fans would have been well within their rights to fear what life might look like after Klopp, who stepped down at the end of last season.

But Slot has taken to the role like a duck to water – and then some.

Having stepped into the German's considerable shoes, Slot is just one point away from a now-inevitable Premier League title win, and also guided his side to a League Cup final.

A change in tactics may have taken place, but two of the club's midfield talents answered questions about the contrast between Slot and Klopp somewhat differently.

Hungarian ace Szoboszlai was coy and guarded about passing an opinion on either boss, while Mac Allister was quite open about the change, and how the Reds are fresher under the current regime.

"I don't compare them with each other," uttered Szoboszlai, asked by Sky Sports about Slot and Klopp.

I never compare my coaches between each other."

On the other hand, Mac Allister, when queried by La Media Inglesa, highlighted a key difference between how Liverpool set up under Klopp and how they currently function under Slot - the Dutchman credited with helping the side be fresher.

"I think the main difference is that before we were a very, very direct team, and today we're a team where we try to be a little more patient and a little more possessive," stated Mac Allister.

"With the quality of the players we have, with the physical capacity of the players we have, having possession and, at times, being able to rest with the ball has helped us a lot to be more fresh."

This more control-based system, which Mac Allister spoke of, is the primary tactical difference between Slot's Reds and when the transition-favouring Klopp was in charge.

In fact, the Dutch manager himself opened up to Sky Sports about the new and evidently successful system he has installed on Merseyside, which differs from Klopp's heavy transitions.

Mac Allister was quick to highlight the changes under Slot

"I think it's also about if you had to run a lot to recover the ball, to get the ball back, and then if you lose it, immediately afterwards, I see players from my team with their head down thinking, s**t, we have to defend again, we have to run again," explained Slot.

"But the other team gets a lot of confidence because they immediately have the ball back again.

And if you have the ball a lot, you feel more comfortable, you feel better.

"So, yeah, if this pass after transition immediately leads to a chance and the fans are loud, that also gives you the right energy, mental energy.

"But if you pick out a difficult ball without, so a lot of risk, without a lot of reward, if it finds your team-mate, then I think another choice would have been better."
