Dominik Szoboszlai dedicated a message to Mohamed Salah in what could be a subtle hint at his potential role for the upcoming season.

The Hungarian midfielder was a standout performer under Arne Slot last term, playing an influential part in the side that secured the Premier League title in the Dutchman’s debut campaign.

Across 49 appearances in all competitions, Szoboszlai registered 17 goal contributions, operating mainly in the attacking midfield role where his creativity and work rate shone through.

However, with Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz this summer, his addition has added fresh competition in Liverpool’s midfield and attacking areas.

With the German capable of playing in the No.10 role, Szoboszlai may now need to adapt – either fighting to retain his position behind the striker or shifting into a deeper role to fit Slot’s plans.

Now, Szoboszlai’s recent message to Salah has drawn interest, with some interpreting it as a sign of how the two might link up in the tactical setup this season.

Szoboszlai shared a snapshot from Liverpool’s latest training session alongside last season’s Player of the Season, Salah.

Accompanying the image, he wrote: “Right side”, tagging the Egyptian and adding a wink emoji in a possible clue that his role this season could see him operating predominantly on the right.

While his influence on the pitch last term was clear, the Reds may also have him to thank off the field.

Football Insider revealed that Szoboszlai played an active role in Liverpool’s pursuit of Milos Kerkez, with the pair sharing a strong friendship through their connection with the Hungary national team.

Now, with fresh competition in the squad, it remains to be seen whether Slot will continue to deploy him in a central position or shift him wide to link more directly with Salah in the final third.

Ben Doak could leave Liverpool.

Despite the reigning Premier League champions adding several new signings, they remain open to player departures to balance the books.

Football Insider reported that Liverpool are prepared to accept offers in the region of £20million for Ben Doak this summer, with Premier League sides Leeds United and West Ham among those showing interest.

Everton had also registered interest earlier in the window and could revive their pursuit if their move for Southampton’s Tyler Dibling continues to stall.
