Liverpool have gone big this summer but that does not mean some of the current players will be made redundant.

The Reds identified areas of weakness early and have tried to sign their targets before any other team got there first, and it appears to be working.

Florian Wirtz is the transfer exciting all Liverpool fans and his £116m move is almost complete, with the German scheduled for a medical when he returns from his holiday next week.

This move may worry Dominik Szoboszlai as the 22-year-old will likely operate in the number 10 role, seemingly taking his place in the side.

However, even if this is the case, the Hungarian will still have a huge role to play next season due to a combination of different factors, with his playing style really being like no other.

If there is one thing that everyone knows about Szoboszlai, it is that he is incredibly hard-working and leaves absolutely everything on the pitch.

But, he also has the ability to match, something that made him a key cog in Arne Slot’s winning team last season.

Against Manchester City last season is a prime example of this as he registered a goal and an assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 win, while also running 11.5km – more than any other player in a red shirt.

In fact, the Hungarian is almost always top of this list and he is a manager’s dream, with his ability to inject pace into the game something that could help Slot’s side next season if they lack it while he likely starts on the bench.

The 24-year-old’s versatility is also another factor that will come into play during the new campaign as Wirtz will likely start and finish most games in his position.

As well as being able to play anywhere centrally, he also has experience of playing on the wings during his time in the Bundesliga, with his goal threat not reducing despite playing further away from the box.

He will certainly get plenty of minutes as he is invaluable to the team, but he will need to see the Wirtz signing as a chance for adaptation rather than replacement.

As well as his contributions on the pitch, his help off the pitch will also prove beneficial, especially as the Reds are set to add two new Hungarians to their team.

Goalkeeper Armin Pecsi is already through the door and although he is expected to play for the under 21s, he will train with the first-team squad and Szoboszlai can help settle him into life at Liverpool.

As for the second Hungarian, Milos Kerkez is expected to arrive soon and he is one of Szoboszlai’s best mates, making his transition to the Premier League champions smoother than it already appears.

The left-back will likely have the personality to succeed at Liverpool but having an extra person to help will always make him feel better, with the midfielder hopefully helping the 21-year-old hit the ground running and take the league by storm.
