Dominik Szoboszlai's national manager has just revealed where Liverpool star will play in the future

Sat 6 September 2025 19:03, UK

Liverpool have added a plethora of attacking talent to their side this summer causing Arne Slot to play numerous key players out of position in the early parts of the season.

Their triple attacking swoop added to an attacking corps that already contains Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

As a result of all the additions Slot has been left with a selection conundrum, with the Dutchman struggling to fit his key attacking talent into a balance team.

Slot has used Wirtz as a more traditional number 10, for example, when a lot of his best actions at Bayer Leverkusen came off of the left flank.

It was Slot’s usage of Dominik Szoboszlai that came to the attention of Hungary manager Marco Rossi, who will be looking towards his key man in Hungary’s World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday evening.

When asked about Slot’s usage of Szoboszlai and whether Rossi would play him in a similar role the 40-year-old said: “I don’t think so, to be honest […] We will employ him in the position which is more comfortable for him and more useful for us.”

Football Insider verdict

Slot welcomed defensive reinforcements as well as attacking ones, with Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez both signing as suspected first-choice full-backs.

With Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister also giving Slot’s side more control and security in midfield, a spot for the in form Szoboszlai seems unlikely anywhere other than right-back, a spot he’s taking from £30m man Frimpong.
