Robertson is open to moving to Spain, with Atletico exploring a deal, talkSPORT understands.

It would bring to an end a glittering Anfield career for the 31-year-old.

Since signing from Hull for £8million in 2017, Robertson has made 342 appearances for the Reds.

As well as scoring 11 goals and providing 67 assists, he has won nine trophies including the Champions League and two league titles.

Robertson remained a key part of their Premier League triumph last term, featuring in 33 matches for Arne Slot's side.

However, he is now expected to leave Liverpool before the start of next season.

talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook explained: "This is an interesting one because I mentioned (Milos) Kerkez is going to come in from Bournemouth.

"Obviously, that will limit Robertson’s game time.

I think Liverpool are aware of that and I think they would be open to offers.

"Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone would love to take him to Spain and we were told over the weekend at talkSPORT by sources close to Robertson he would be open to that move and I think it will be a good move for him.

"Slightly slower tempo in La Liga.

I can see him really prospering under Diego Simeone.

"But when you look at pound-for-pound signings in the Premier League era, £8million Liverpool paid for Andy Robertson.

He’s paid that back tenfold."

talkSPORT host, and former Arsenal star, Perry Groves labelled it as one of the greatest pound-for-pound transfers in the Premier League era.

The Reds are closing in on the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Kerkez has given the greenlight to a £40million switch as a deal with the Cherries nears completion.

Slot has already been busy in the transfer market this summer as he prepares for his first title defence.

Jeremie Frimpong arrived from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal last month.

The full-back's former team-mate Florian Wirtz is also set to join him on Merseyside.

Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Leverkusen for a £100million deal rising to £116.5million with add-ons.

Wirtz has already agreed personal terms with the club and will undergo a medical this week.
