Liverpool are set to part ways with a lot of cash this summer and break a club record.
The Reds, specifically Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, are known to be shrewd negotiators in the transfer market and are very meticulous in their approach.
They take their time to assess all of the options, gauge how a player’s personality would fit into the squad and only ever negotiate on their own terms, all details that have made them so successful.
This is something they will have been doing with Alexander Isak too, with the Reds tracking his progress ever since he was playing for Real Sociedad, hence the reason they are keen on him now.
However, now one of the best in the world, his price has sky-rocketed and he would cost a pretty penny, although this could have been very different.

Jurgen Klopp is one of the main reasons Liverpool are in the position they are in now, with the German hardly ever putting a foot wrong during his nine years at the club.
But, one thing that he may have got wrong was opting to sign Darwin Nunez instead of Isak, even going against the Liverpool hierarchy to do so according to Sky Sports.
Despite those higher up wanting to sign the Swede, Klopp and his assistant at the time, Pep Lijnders, pushed hard for them to get Nunez instead.

The Reds’ meeting with Benfica in the Champions League in 2022 may have been a defining factor in Klopp’s decision, with the Uruguayan impressing across both legs.
However, this decision has, ultimately, proven to be the wrong one as Nunez has just 40 goals in 143 Liverpool games, a statistic made worse by the fact Isak has netted 62 in that time despite playing 34 fewer games.
Liverpool are in desperate need of a striker and many options have been listed, although Fabrizio Romano has said Isak remains the ‘dream’ target.
Newcastle would likely want around £130m-£140m if they were to let him leave, something many would expect to put the Reds off.
However, the rumours keep persisting and money does not appear to be an issue for them this summer, especially as they could make a decent amount of money on outgoings.
There is still plenty of time for a final decision to be made but based on what all the big journalists are saying, as well as Liverpool activity this summer, it is fair to say that a move is not completely out of the question.
