Robertson on 'fight' rumour

Andy Robertson has addressed rumours he was involved in a dressing room fight with Liverpool team-mate Alisson Becker earlier this month.

Wild speculation had suggested the two had come to blows following the Reds' 3-1 Premier League defeat at Leicester City on February 13.

Such suggestions were swiftly dismissed by Jordan Henderson two days later, who revealed they had prompted laughter among the squad.

And now Robertson has given his take on the claims by admitting he was unimpressed to discover he was the one supposedly on the receiving end.

"I don't look like the boxing type, do I!" said the left-back.

"The least (likely) two people to fight in the dressing room are myself and Ali, to be honest.

"When you get a couple of bad results, in current times I think people are sitting at home a bit bored and obviously somebody made up a rumour that the gaffer didn't come home whereas me and Ali were fighting."

Speaking to Sky Sports, Robertson added: "I love how I was the one who ended up with the burst lip.

"I would rather it was the other way about but beggars can't be choosers!

"The stuff that was getting written was a lot of nonsense. For the players and everyone in the training ground, we just need to block all that out."

'Joke' decision

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has had his say on the Reds' defeat to Everton.

"Liverpool got beat. Everton played well. They deserved to finally win a Merseyside derby - but that penalty decision was a joke," said Aldridge in his latest Echo column.

"We’ve not had a whole lot going for us when it comes to VAR decisions but that referee - and it was an easy game to officiate overall really, so how the hell he looked at the screen for 10 seconds and gave the penalty, when Dominic Calvert-Lewin has kicked Trent Alexander-Arnold’s head.

"I’m not saying it would have changed the game because the Reds would probably still have got beat 1-0 but it just added insult to injury.

"Especially when considering what happened at Goodison Park earlier in the season when a goal was ruled out for a Sadio Mane offside late on in that fixture.

"The actual result though didn’t surprise me. It is an ongoing nightmare though.

"It was the same thing happening against Brighton, Burnley, Manchester City, now Everton.

"They were no different. You can analyse the game all you want but it’s no different.

"A complete lack of belief and confidence in the team, which is obvious because of the amount of changes they’ve had to make."
