The Dutch midfielder has started the season in sparkling form.

Despite being suspended for Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth after picking up a suspension in Liverpool’s final game of last season, Ryan Gravenberch has bounced back from that temporary setback in spectacular fashion.

Gravenberch has grown to be a vital player for Liverpool under Arne Slot, as the Dutch manager has unlocked the magic that saw the young midfielder tipped for great things during his Ajax days.

The midfielder was one of the latest Ajax academy graduates to shine in the first team before earning a move to Bayern Munich.

Looking to push on with the Bavarians, Gravenberch failed to show the promise that had earned him the move in the first place, as he struggled in Germany.

Spotting a gap in the market for him, Jurgen Klopp exploited it, bringing Ryan Gravenberch to Liverpool ahead of his final season in charge in the summer of 2023.

The Dutchman also struggled during his first season in England, failing to hold down a regular spot in the starting lineup but Slot has changed the fortunes of the young mn.

Deploying him in a deeper lying midfield role has done the trick, and the team now look significantly more put together when he is placed in front of the backline to pull the strings.

Ryan Gravenberch was the standout player in Liverpool’s win over Burnley, and he also grabbed his second goal in a Liverpool shirt earlier on this season in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United at St.

James Park.

Such are the quality of his performances that he is drawing praise from his homeland, with Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen recently expressing his admiration of the player and his frustrating that he isn’t used enough at international level by Ronald Koeman.

Speaking to Vandaag Inside, Driessen said:

“That guy was so incredibly good.

It’s such a shame he doesn’t show that for the Dutch national team.”

“But then Ronald Koeman has to give him the space.”

“Then Frenkie De Jong isn’t playing one time and you think: put Gravenberch in that position, because that’s more or less where he plays at Liverpool?

But then Gravenberch ends up on the bench [against Lithuania].”

“That’s a real shame because Gravenberch is truly a top player, one of the best midfielders in the world.”

Gravenberch will be hoping to keep up the form he has shown so far this season as it will help him work his way into Koeman’s plans at international level.
