Many Liverpool players are still yet to get off on their holidays this summer as they complete their national team obligations.

Such is the quality throughout the Reds’ team, they have a high number of players who are key performers for their countries.

Curtis Jones surprisingly played right-back for England on Saturday, while there was also an outing for Conor Bradley.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands have the biggest collection of Liverpool players out of any international team, with all four Dutch Reds starting their World Cup qualifier against Finland.

With Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch already well established as part of the set-up, Saturday gave Liverpool fans their first look at Jeremie Frimpong since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen.

And with Frimpong beginning the game on the right-wing for Ronald Koeman’s team, the Dutch national media gave their verdict on Liverpool’s new man.

As well as having four players in the national team’s starting XI, Liverpool also employ a Dutch head coach.

Consequently, there is no shortage of interest in the Oranje on Merseyside.

With Frimpong playing a match for the first time since joining Liverpool, there was extra incentive for fans to tune in for the game in Helsinki.

And there was something to note instantly, as Frimpong lined up in a more attacking role for Koeman.

According to Dutch outlet AD, though, the 24-year-old did not have his best game.

While he went close with a header from a Gakpo cross, Frimpong only did enough to score a six out of ten.

He is commended for being ‘constantly alert defensively’ and his pressing is also highlighted, but it’s suggested the wing-back was not able to assert himself on the Finnish defence.

Meanwhile, Voetbal International also score Frimpong as a six out of ten, reserving better scores of seven, seven and seven point five for Gakpo, Gravenberch and Van Dijk respectively.

The best moment of the match for Frimpong arguably came when he saw a far post header stopped by former Leverkusen teammate Lukas Hradecky.

Speaking via Voetbal International after the game, Hradecky admitted he would have been embarrassed if the Liverpool man had beaten him with his head.

“If that guy had scored with his head…” said the Finland goalkeeper.

“I see every day in training that he doesn’t even dare to head the ball.

So that was the most important save of the evening.”

Frimpong and the rest of Liverpool’s Dutch quartet are next in action on Tuesday, when they face Malta in Groningen.
