Noni Madueke has joined Arsenal from Chelsea, to provide greater competition down the flanks, but Arteta is still in the market for a forward.
As exclusively revealed by Football Insider, Arsenal are leading the race to sign Eze from Crystal Palace ahead of Tottenham.
The Eagles have been hit with a further blow to keep Eze, as the Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS] has ruled that Crystal Palace will be demoted from the Europa League to the Europa Conference League.
The ruling from CAS will have an effect on Crystal Palace’s transfer plans, and potentially incentivise Arsenal to prepare a fresh bid for the midfielder.

Crystal Palace have been standing firm on their valuation of Eze amid interest from Arsenal, as the 27 year old’s £68million release clause expires before the start of the Premier League season and the Eagles do not want to sell for any less.

As Arsenal prepare for another Premier League title challenge, the arrival of Eze would add further quality to the squad.

Palace will not want to sell and Oliver Glasner is desperate to keep hold of his key players ahead of their European exploits, though the CAS verdict is a major blow to those ambitions.
Glasner will already have to deal with the expected departure of Marc Guehi, who Palace want to sell in this window to avoid losing him on a free next summer.
Without sourcing a replacement, losing Eze alongside Guehi, would hit the Palace squad hard on the pitch.
Arsenal though will be hopeful a deal can be struck, as Palace may need extra funds to add to their squad before the transfer window shuts in a few weeks time.
