The Alexander Isak situation is one that continues to fascinate.

The Swedish striker has expressed his desire to leave Newcastle, and Liverpool are in pole position to sign him this summer.

He sees the Reds as a club with bigger ambitions than Newcastle, a club capable of winning the biggest trophies.

Eddie Howe has not shied away from difficult questions in the press in regard to the situation surrounding his star striker.

His answers to the questions he was asked following their game against Arsenal today shared the same brutal honesty.

Honesty that in turn will only build excitement for Liverpool.

The Newcastle manager has confirmed that Alexander Isak will not be linking up with the rest of the Newcastle team for the remainder of their pre-season tour in South Korea.

Newcastle played their first game of the tour today, and that will be followed by a game against K-League XI on Wednesday and a face-off against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Alexander Isak will not be present for either.

Whilst his absence was originally brushed under the rug by using the excuse that the striker had sustained a minor thigh issue, Craig Hope has since come out and confirmed that Isak has decided to push through a move away from the club this summer.

This is what Eddie Howe said post-match today.

“We’re not deluded.

It’s been a challenging window.”

Craig Hope then proceeds to ask: “Any chance Isak joins you in Korea?”

Eddie howe’s answer was simple: “No.”

A decision that won’t have been taken lightly by Isak, as his continued absence will give him time to assess his options and wait for Liverpool to make their move.
