Eddie Howe, Newcastle's manager, has done little to quell the speculation surrounding Alexander Isak's future at the club.

He confirmed that there are currently no contract discussions with the striker who is reportedly keen on a move away from St.

Liverpool was previously prepared to shell out £120 million ($161.2 million) for his services earlier this month is said to be his preferred destination.

Despite recently committing to a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool could potentially raise additional funds through the sales of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Harvey Elliott.

Newcastle, however, is not prepared to let its star player go without a fight and has reportedly placed a hefty £150 million ($201.5 million) price tag on him.

While there have been reports of attempts to secure Isak on improved terms beyond his 2028 contract expiry, these talks appear to have hit a roadblock.

Speaking in Singapore, Howe disclosed: "There are no contract talks taking place.

Alexander Isak is considering his options

Howe further elaborated on the Isak situation, maintaining that the player's relationship with the club remains solid but hinting that his departure won't be straightforward.

"Of course, there are things going on behind the scenes, and he will be aware he is in the news every day, and that is not easy for anyone in that situation," Howe added.

"Conversations that happen between Alex and myself, and Alex and the club will stay private

We are ambitious, and we have a great season ahead of us."

Newcastle has suffered a difficult period in the transfer market ahead of its second Champions League campaign in three years.

Anthony Elanga's capture from Nottingham Forest provides reason for optimism, despite concerns they overpaid for the Swedish international.

However, the Magpies have been turned down by Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Hugo Ekitike, and James Trafford
