Newcastle United have been warned that manager Eddie Howe is becoming increasingly frustrated and could quit his role.
The Englishman took over at St James’ Park back in November 2021, and since then has led the Magpies to Champions League football on two separate occasions, as well as a Carabao Cup triumph last season.
However, this summer has been one of turmoil on Tyneside, with star striker Alexander Isak forcing through a move to Liverpool.
To make matters worse, Newcastle missed out on key targets like Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and James Trafford, among others.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Howe may be becoming fed up with the way the club is being run.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Howe will be considering his future after the saga around Isak and the club’s failure to properly replace the Swede.
Nick Woltemade made the switch to St James’ Park late in the window, as did Yoane Wissa, but it is yet to be seen whether the pair can fill the void left by the departing striker.

Wyness added that despite concerns about potential signings not wanting to live in Newcastle, there are far bigger problems for the club to worry about.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I remember in the early days when Michael Owen signed for Newcastle, I used to see his helicopter coming over my house every day because he didn’t want to move to Newcastle.
It really is superb.

“A lot of those things are bigger than just Newcastle’s location.
Newcastle had really got themselves back in the game, and there were players really looking to go there when they hit the Champions League.
“All of a sudden, they’ve managed to sort of arrest that momentum, and there are now a few more question marks.
So it’s all self-inflicted.”
Meanwhile, Man City are reportedly preparing to step up their pursuit of Newcastle star Tino Livramento after missing out during the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 22-year-old is near the top of City’s list of transfer targets.
Pep Guardiola is set to prioritise the addition of a new right-back after Kyle Walker‘s move to Burnley, which has left them short of options in his position.
However, Newcastle remain extremely reluctant to lose Livramento given his crucial role in Howe’s plans for the upcoming season.
