Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has sent Alexander Isak a verbal warning that he can't 'act poorly' and then be treated normally.
The striker and his agent are reportedly waiting on Liverpool to return with a second offer.
The Reds' first attempt was a straight £110m bid that was shot down immediately by their Premier League rivals.
As the ECHO understands, Liverpool are not currently lining up a new attempt but that does mean to say they will not before the summer window closes, with this transfer saga involving a number of moving parts.
One such example is how Isak will be reintegrated back into the Magpies' squad once they return from their pre-season tour in Asia.

Newcastle's official club line was that the 25-year-old had stayed home with a thigh injury, but subsequently traveled to Spain where he reportedly trained at former club Real Sociedad's facilities without Eddie Howe's knowledge.
Howe, speaking about Isak to The Daily Mail, revealed the pair have not been in direct contact but the player's orders are to return to their Darsley Park base for training this week.
When asked if Isak will be immediately integrated back in with the rest of the squad, Howe replied: "You have to earn the right to train with us.
"We are Newcastle United.
The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad - you have to act in the right way.
So that is also at play here.
"We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group.
Other people have been dealing with that situation back at home."
According to this latest report, Isak and his agent are actively trying to pressure Newcastle into accepting a transfer and wish that Liverpool would make a second bid to rush this along.
For now, the player will have to wait as the Premier League champions take stock of the situation and find an opportune moment to act again.
