Eddie Howe has once again had to take questions on all of the Alexander Isak speculation while on tour in South Korea.

Liverpool’s summer outlay – already soaring past £260 million – signals the club’s readiness to smash the British transfer record yet again should Alexander Isak push for an exit.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are fully alert to the striker’s growing interest in an Anfield switch, prompting them to explore backup options like Benjamin Šeško and Yoane Wissa as possible replacements.

From Isak’s side, agent Gonzalo Gaitán has admitted that “every scenario is on the table,” hinting they could be nearing a decision in the striker’s future.

Widespread reports all suggest that the Swede wants Anfield and has communicated an openness to the move after skipping Newcastle’s entire Asian tour.

Despite a tax-free £600,000-per-week offer from Al Hilal, Isak shunned the Saudi proposal, reiterating his preference for Liverpool and Champions League football.

Newcastle United have placed the power over Alexander Isak’s future squarely in the hands of chairman Yasir -Rumayyan and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) – the owners of the club.

Newcastle’s firm £150 million valuation has so far deterred formal bids, but Isak’s absence from pre-season tours has intensified speculation that Liverpool could rekindle negotiations at a British-record fee.

Eddie Howe has now spoken more on the tense situation.

Speaking to reporters in South Korea on Tuesday, Eddie Howe maintained that Newcastle still have some measure of control on Alexander Isak’s future:

“He is still our player.

We, to a degree, control what is next for him,” the Magpies boss asserted.

I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us.

My wish is that he stays, and we see him playing again next year.”

Meanwhile, Kieran Trippier became the latest Newcastle player to speak on the situation this week.
