Hugo Ekitike is on the verge of becoming Liverpool’s latest summer addition.
Liverpool are set to flex their financial muscles again during this transfer window, as they near the completion of a deal that will see talented French striker Hugo Ekitike arrive on Merseyside from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 23-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Reds on a six-year contract, it is just down to the clubs now to agree a transfer fee.
During his first and what appears to be his only season in Germany, Ekitike scored 22 goals in 48 matches across all competitions, as well as notching 12 assists for the Bundesliga side.
Form that has grabbed the interest of Liverpool, who are keen to bring a prolific goal scorer to their team after Darwin Nunez appears completely out of Arne Slot’s plans after another frustrating season at Liverpool.
It appears to only be a matter of time, and a decision that the club has made today has only added fuel to the fire.
Eintracht Frankfurt are set to face off against FSV Frankfurt today in a club friendly, and it has now been confirmed that whilst Hugo Ekitike has been named on the bench for the game, that is where he will stay, and he won’t take part in any action on the pitch.
Another sign that his future may lie elsewhere very soon.
The tweet from Fabrice Hawkins goes on to state that negotiations are ongoing between Liverpool and the German side, with ‘final green light expected soon’.
Hugo Ekitike will become Liverpool’s seventh senior addition this summer, with no signs that the club will slow down there.
More additions are rumoured, with the likes of Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Rodrygo Goes of Real Madrid linked.
This is turning out to be some summer for Liverpool Football Club.
