Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign a new central midfielder as they close in on completing Hugo Ekitike's transfer to Liverpool.
The ECHO reported on Sunday that the Reds have reached an agreement with Frankfurt over the transfer of Ekitike.
The Reds have thrashed out a deal that will see them pay a guaranteed £69million to the Bundesliga side with a further possible £10m in add-ons that will require success for both the club and the player to be achieved.
Last season, the striker scored 22 goals across all competitions including 15 in the Bundesliga as Frankfurt cemented their spot in the Champions League.
Liverpool are looking to bolster their attack this summer despite having one of the strongest front lines in the Premier League already.

Arne Slot's men are hopeful of reaching a compromise worth between £78-82m for Ekitike with the pressure on the German club to find their striker a new club.
It is understood that Frankfurt pulled out of a move for the 19-year-old due to the finances involved in the deal.
This transfer seemed likely to be completed after the Bundesliga side agreed on a contract until 2030 but it now seems as though that switch is off.
A transfer is clearly not officially done until the player is holding the shirt aloft.
