In recent days and weeks, consistent reports have linked Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Willian Pacho with a potential switch to Anfield.

There is set to be plenty of change afoot at Liverpool this summer, with not only Jurgen Klopp and some of his staff leaving, but some players too.

Most notably, Thiago Alcantara’s exit is all but official with his injury concerns this season, while Joel Matip’s ACL injury makes his contract renewal a tricky situation for the club.

Virgil van Dijk is not getting younger at 32, while Ibrahima Konate’s injury record leaves a lot to be desired.

Therefore, it makes sense and is probably likely that the Reds’ recruitment staff are examining options for the heart of defense.

This season, Willian Pacho emerged as a standout performer for Eintracht Frankfurt, showcasing his defensive prowess and versatility in various roles across the backline.

With his combination of speed, strength, and tactical intelligence, Pacho proved to be a reliable presence in defense, adept at intercepting passes, making crucial tackles, and initiating attacks from the back.

He ranks above the 80th percentile in all key defensive metrics such as interceptions, blocks, clearances, and tackles when compared to his positional peers across Europe’s Top Five Leagues (FBRef).

Additionally, he also scores highly in some creative metrics.

Simply put, the data behind the 22-year-old Ecuadorian is very impressive, and that is what likely put him on Liverpool’s radar in the first place.

Eintracht Frankfurt stance on Willian Pacho

Despite reported interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal, it’s believed that Frankfurt has no plans to sell Willian Pacho.

This is according to German journalist Christopher Michael from Fussball.News, who writes on X:

“Even if the rumor mill is bubbling: Currently, it is not the plan of Eintracht Frankfurt to sell Willian Pacho this summer.”

Pacho only joined the Bundesliga side in the past summer, completing a €9m switch from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.

What makes Pacho an attractive prospect for Premier League clubs is not only his defensive acumen but also his ability to contribute offensively.

His young age and potential for further development make him an enticing prospect for top English clubs like Liverpool looking to bolster their defensive ranks with a dynamic and promising talent who could thrive in the demanding environment of the Premier League.

Earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano reported that Liverpool were looking at Eintracht Frankfurt as a whole for possible talents.
