Harvey Elliott has labelled the FA’s decision not to overturn Pascal Struijk’s red card as ‘wrong’.

Elliott faces a lengthy recovery period after suffering a fracture dislocation of his left ankle from a tackle by the defender in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leeds.

Reacting to the ruling, Elliott replied on an Instagram post from Sky Sports covering the news to express his disappointment at the FA’s decision.

Club doctor Dr Jim Moxon said: “Harvey sustained a fracture dislocation of his left ankle during the game.

Despite refusing to specify a time frame, Anfield chiefs are confident Elliott will feature for Jurgen Klopp’s side again before the end of this season.

“We won’t put pressure on him by setting a specific timeframe beyond being able to say with confidence we expect him to feature again later in the season following our rehab programme.”

“The operation was a success so his comeback starts now.
