Emile Heskey believes that Harvey Barnes should stay at Leicester City, despite recent reports that Liverpool are preparing a transfer bid in the summer.

However, amid the links with Merseyside, former Liverpool and Leicester striker Heskey believes that Barnes should stay with his current team and continue developing under Brendan Rodgers.

"But now, you’re more confident with Harvey Barnes getting into those positions and scoring than you’ve ever been.

Barnes has enjoyed an excellent individual season for the Foxes, providing nine goals and four assists in 25 Premier League appearances.

The Mirror reported last month that Leicester are eager to hand Barnes a new contract to fend off interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, both of which have watched the flying winger this season.

Previously, Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool will have to begin breaking up their current front three, a process they started with the arrival of Diogo Jota last summer and something that Barnes' arrival would further do.

"So this is why the clubs like Liverpool are probably showing an interest because you’re getting a more consistent player.
