Sir Kenny Dalglish soaks in the scenes at Anfield on April 27, 2025 as Liverpool are confirmed Premier League champions

An emotional Sir Kenny Dalglish led the tributes for Arne Slot and his Liverpool players after they were confirmed as Premier League champions on Sunday afternoon at Anfield.

The Reds needed only a point to confirm their status as league winners.

But they ran out 5-1 winners over Tottenham Hotspur to move 15 points clear of Arsenal with four games now remaining.

It caps a remarkable triumph for Slot, who only took over at the beginning of June 2024 from Jurgen Klopp.

The iconic Dalglish was at Anfield with his wife Marina and watched on from the executive box alongside club owners Fenway Sports Group and the football operations department that included FSG's 'CEO of football' Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes

Sir Kenny, who now holds a position as director on the club's board, was filmed enjoying the post-match celebrations and joining in with a rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone as the players and staff embraced in the penalty area at the Kop end after the final whistle.

And taking to social media on Monday morning, the legendary former player-manager toasted to Slot and the 24/25 vintage, as the club celebrated its 20th title and first in front of supporters since Dalglish led the class of 1990 to league championship No.18.

Dalglish posted: "This is what it means to Liverpool Football Club!

I’m sure there’s a few sore heads this morning".

Liverpool's all-time leading scorer Ian Rush was also at Anfield for the game and posted a picture alongside his friend Mohamed Salah after the match.

Salah, whose strike on Sunday took him to 244 Liverpool goals, has moved up to third in the club's all-time list this season and is now 102 behind the tally of legendary marksman Rush, who is top of the charts at Anfield.

Ex-Reds striker Daniel Sturridge, who was at the game as part of Sky Sports' coverage, also posted a picture with former colleagues Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, posting: "Proud of the guys!

20 plus 6 big ones OUT OF SIGHT from the rest YNWA."

During the game itself, Dominic Solanke headed Spurs into the lead from James Maddison's corner before the hosts levelled up when Luis Diaz turned home Dominik Szobozlai's pass.

Alexis Mac Allister's smashed in the second before Cody Gakpo's 17th goal of the campaign made it 3-1 before half time.

After the break, Salah registered his 33rd goal of the season before Destiny Udogie scored an own goal.
