Liverpool began their pre-season with a win but it came under highly-emotional circumstances.
The Reds would not have wanted to play a game as early as they had to after the tragic death of teammate Diogo Jota, but they certainly did the Portuguese star proud.
Liverpool came away from Deepdale with a 3-1 victory during a day filled with heartwarming tributes to the 28-year-old, with the footballing community truly coming together.
Both sides observed a minute’s silence and Reds fans did not stop singing Jota’s song all game long, showing just how loved he was and will forever be.
Liverpool players have also been quick to take to social media to offer their thanks and opinions on a very tough day, with captain Virgil van Dijk one of the first.

The Dutchman did not feature today as Arne Slot did not want to risk any injuries due to the disrupted training schedule, with new signing Florian Wirtz also not playing.
However, that did not stop van Dijk from leading by example and offering his thoughts after an emotional game, with the captain posting his thanks to Preston.
“An emotional day but good work from the boys, thanks for all your love and support reds.” van Dijk put on his Instagram story.
