It’s set to be a busy off-season for many of Liverpool’s players, even if the Anfield club is not involved in the revamped Club World Cup this summer.
The UEFA Nations League Finals set for June 4–8 Germany will see Ibrahima Konate’s France take on Spain while Diogo Jota will be involved with Portugal’s clash against Germany.
Meanwhile, all four of Liverpool’s South American contingent in Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Alisson Becker, and Luis Diaz will be involved in regional World Cup qualifiers, with some that go until the 11th of June.
It’s hardly an ideal scenario for players who need well-earned time off to rest their bodies from 9 months of club action at the highest level.
Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold have already been called up for senior England duty for their own World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile Rio Ngumoha, 16, was named in England U17’s squad for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Albania, marking his first major international tournament since joining from Chelsea in September.
The U17 side opened their Group B campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium on May 20, where Ngumoha started and played 77 minutes before being substituted.
England currently sit third in their group with one point, facing defending champions Italy this evening before concluding the group stage against Czechia on May 26.
And now the club have confirmed that Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton, and Jarell Quansah have been included in England U21’s preparation camp ahead of the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia.
The trio will join the Young Lions at St?
George’s Park, with the final squad set to be announced on June 6 ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on June 11.
England, drawn in Group B alongside Czechia, Germany, and Slovenia, begin their title defense against Czechia on June 12 in Dunajská Streda.
The tournament, hosted across eight Slovak cities, features 16 teams, with the knockout stages commencing on June 2126.
The Young Lions aim to secure a record-equaling fourth U21 EURO title, having triumphed in 2023 under manager Lee Carsley.
