Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana received plenty of attention after posting a message following his return to the squad amid ongoing speculation over his future.
Enzo Maresca’s side secured a dominant 5-1 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium, responding impressively after Lucas Paqueta had given West Ham an early lead with a brilliant long-range strike.
Chelsea scored three times in the first half and then Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah added further goals after the break to cap off a commanding performance.
Meanwhile, Fofana’s appearance was a notable moment, coming off the bench in the second half to make his first outing since undergoing surgery late last season.
The defender had faced criticism from Chelsea fans who called for Fofana to be sold after he controversially recently removed all references to Chelsea from his Instagram profile.
However, following his return to action, teh defender posted a message addressing supporters and re-engaging with the club’s fanbase.
Fofana posted on Instagram after coming on for the final 21 minutes in his first appearance for Chelsea since 16 March against Arsenal.
He posted multiple pictures and a caption that read: “Good to be back Alhamdulillah.
Other players, including Enzo Fernandez and Christopher Nkunku, also liked the message.

He had been sidelined last season due to recurring injuries, undergoing surgery and missing 36 matches across all competitions.
His limited game time has frustrated the club, with Football Insider revealing that Chelsea are open to offers for Fofana this summer.
After his recent cryptic move to delete all Chelsea-related posts from his Instagram earlier in the week, many speculated a transfer could be imminent.
However, his return to action suggests he remains part of the squad.
Raheem Sterling is looking to exit Chelsea.
While Fofana’s future remains uncertain, another player appears closer to leaving, with West Ham pursuing Raheem Sterling.
Football Insider reported that West Ham are exploring a potential deal for Sterling, whose agents have been in contact with several clubs with the window coming to a close in eight days.
Graham Potter is understood to be keen on reuniting with Sterling to address West Ham’s attacking concerns, with the Blues determined to shift the winger out of the squad.
