The 28-year-old’s previous deal had two years remaining, but the new contract runs until 2029, with the option for a further 12 months.

Man City began contract talks with Dias back in June, and the Portugal international’s renewal has now been confirmed.

Dias joined Manchester City from Benfica in 2020 for £65million and has enjoyed a successful spell since, helping the club to four league titles, a Champions League triumph, and a historic treble over five seasons.

While retaining one of their key players, the club remain active in the transfer market as Football Insider reports that Rodrygo’s agents have held talks with Man City.

However, the club face competition from rivals Liverpool, who are also in discussions with Rodrygo and aware of the Brazilian’s wage demands ahead of a deal.

With Savinho’s future still uncertain and funds freed up by recent exits, a potential blockbuster signing for City could be on the horizon in the final weeks of the summer window.
