Liverpool will make the short trip across Stanley Park to face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm GMT.

It is quite a short turnaround after the 3-1 win over Fulham on Sunday, but the Reds will have to ensure they are prepared for the Merseyside derby.

Jurgen Klopp will be optimistic that Liverpool’s recent victory in West London has resolved their scoring difficulties – with the return of Diogo Jota especially poignant.

This clash is crucial, with Liverpool pushing for the title and Everton fighting to secure breathing room from the relegation zone.

Everton’s season has been tumultuous, hovering near the bottom of the table, and their situation is exacerbated by multiple points deductions

Without these penalties, Sean Dyche’s squad would be positioned safely in 14th place, ahead of teams like Crystal Palace and Brentford, highlighting their resilience under challenging circumstances.

The historic rivalry between the two clubs, who are separated by less than a mile and the expanse of Stanley Park, adds to the special atmosphere this fixture conjures up.

The Merseyside Derby is not only a fiercely contested match in the English Premier League but also the longest-running top-flight derby in England, having been played continuously since the 1962-63 season.

With that mind, let’s take a look at the Everton injuries ahead of the game.

Beto

The burly striker was involved in a sickening clash of heads during Everton’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

He clashed heads with Morgan Gibbs-White and was rendered unconscious before being stretchered off the pitch.

While Everton have announced that he is thankfully conscious and able to speak in hospital, it is difficult to imagine that he features in any capacity on Wednesday evening.

Status: ruled out

Nathan Patterson

The Scottish right-back has been seeing steady improvement at Everton since his €14 million move from Rangers in the summer of 2022.

He has already racked up 48 appearances for the Toffees, highlighting how valuable of a signing he has been.

But Sean Dyche will have to do without the wiry 22-year-old for the Merseyside Derby.

Speaking ahead of Forest via Premierinjuries.com, Dyche said of Patterson:

“Out for the season: he will need surgery on that, very unfortunate.”

“We’re disappointed in that one for him.”

Status: ruled out

Dele Alli

Alli has been out with a partial muscle tear since his return from loan spell at Besiktas.

He is yet to feature for the Blues this season, with Dyche saying:

“Dele’s focus is just getting fit.

We’re not worrying about when, just, first things first, get fit.”

“That’s all we’re looking for him to do, and that’s all he’s looking to do.”

Status: ruled out

Lewis Dobbin

The young left-winger has worked his way through the Everton youth system and is now part of the first-team after spending time on loan at Derby County last season.

He’s made 11 Premier League appearances this season, managing to score his first top flight goal in that time.

Dobbin was not even in the squad for the win over Nottingham Forest as he recovers from a ankle/foot injury.

Status: ruled out

Seamus Coleman

The veteran skipper has been around the Premier League for ages now and knows the Merseyside derby like the back of his hand.

He has been suffering with a knee injury for the majority of this season and has only managed nine Premier League appearances.

Coleman was not in the squad against Nottingham Forest.

Speaking ahead of Forest, Dyche said:

“Seamus, we’re waiting on, and hopefully, that’ll calm down quickly?
