Everton fans are calling for the sale of Beto following his disasterclass performance vs Leeds United.
The Toffees went down 1-0 at Elland Road on Monday night in their opening fixture of the Premier League season.
While it was a controversial penalty that proved the difference, Everton didn’t help themselves, with just one shot on target throughout the match to the tune of 0.80 xG (FotMob), while they allowed Leeds twice the number of touches in the opposition box (28-14).
The performance of Beto on the night was particularly worrying and has stirred a reaction from Evertonians.

Beto has generally improved since David Moyes’ return to Everton, netting seven goals in 19 appearances under the Scotsman prior to Monday.
However, he has remained an inconsistent source of goals at best throughout his time at Everton, and even after the signing of Thierno Barry, fans have been keen to see their club sign another striker.

Beto put in a dismal display at Elland Road, having the fewest touches (22) of any outfield player to finish the 90 minutes, while attempting just one shot, having two touches in the opposition box, and only managing five completed passes from nine attempts.

It was not a performance anyone at Everton will be proud of, and one that has sparked an angry reaction from supporters, who think it’s time to part ways with the 27-year-old — who routinely surrendered possession against Leeds.
Everton’s own social media channels also attracted wider calls from supporters to add a new striker — following recent links to veteran free agent Jamie Vardy.
Football Insider verdict
Ironically, the backlash against his performance at Elland Road comes fresh from news emerging that Beto is the subject of a bid from Leeds United — as reported by Football Insider.
The Guinea-Bissau international has never truly convinced during his time on Merseyside, and despite his relative improvement under Moyes, Monday’s blank leaves him with just 15 goals in 72 Everton appearances.
It’s thought that Leeds’ bid sits somewhere in the £20-22million range, which is a big loss on the £30m they paid for him two years ago (BBC), but not a disaster given his poor output.
There are still two weeks left in the window, and Everton are still targeting another winger.
Should they land someone like Tyler Dibling or Takefusa Kubo, that will provide Moyes with incredible creative tools when paired with Jack Grealish.
With that in mind, it could be time for Everton to cut their losses with Beto and sign a striker capable of being a regular source of Premier League goals — especially given the adjustment period Thierno Barry is going to need.
It’s that, or another potential season of struggle at the wrong end of the table for Everton in their shiny new stadium.
