Everton fans are said to remain unsure over the potential signing of Man City’s Jack Grealish despite being ready to idolise him.
The England international has been the prime focus of transfer speculation after he seemingly fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola.
The 29-year-old was not taken to the Club World Cup, strongly suggesting the former Aston Villa academy graduate’s time is up in Manchester.
Grealish has been linked with Tottenham following their injury blow to James Maddison but the Toffees are also huge admirers of the Englishman.
Talks are said to be ongoing between both parties for Grealish according to former Head of Communications at Everton Alan Myers, but little progress has been made thus far.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (1.15pm, 9 August), Evertonian Sue Smith was asked about the situation, and said she believes Grealish would have an immense impact if he came to the club.
The ex-England international said: “As an Everton fan of course I’d love to see Jack Grealish play for the club and I think in a new stadium, playing him centrally where he loves to play… go and get on the ball and create and make things happen, I think the Everton fans would absolutely love him.”

The financial aspect worried Smith, given the Toffees need to recruit far more players to bolster an already shallow squad, she added: “It’s a lot of money and I think that’s maybe the concern of some Everton fans when you’re spending a lot of money on Jack Grealish when potentially you could be bringing in three or four other players.
“But he’s a top quality player and he’s done it all hasn’t he?
So to bring that experience, winning mentality, and the quality that we all know he’s got, he will be absolutely idolised by the Everton fans.
If he comes and performs would be outstanding.”

Football Insider verdict
A move to Merseyside would suit the Englishman and he would face little competition for a starting spot, guaranteeing him a superb amount of minutes.
Yet, following the construction of the Toffees’ new stadium, the club is strapped for cash and would be highly unlikely to afford the former Villain’s high wages.
At a crossroads in his career which is on a knife-edge, the England international must decide what is more important: football or money.

Taking a wage cut would make himself far more appealing to the Blues who are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.
Moreover, this season is even more crucial given the 2026 FIFA World Cup is on the agenda and the number 10 will be keen to impress Thomas Tuchel to book his spot in the tournament squad.
For a man that doesn’t need more money, surely he can cut his losses to play regular football under David Moyes?
