Liverpool and their summer business is accelerating rapidly, with three major developments so far signalling their intent to build on last season’s Premier League triumph.

The Reds have already finalized the £29.5 million signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, activating the Dutch defender’s release clause to bolster their right-back options following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure.

Negotiations for Florian Wirtz are also nearing completion, with Liverpool submitting a second improved bid of €130 million (£109.4 million) for the Leverkusen playmaker.

Although Fabrizio Romano reports “optimism” on both sides, Leverkusen has rejected the second offer.

Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher has completed his Brentford medical ahead of an £18 million move, ending his seven-year Anfield stint to pursue first-team football.

And there could be another exit on the cards potentially.

Sky Sports have reported that Everton are looking to sign 19-year-old Ben Doak this summer.

Lyall Thomas reports:

Everton want to sign Liverpool winger Ben Doak.

Liverpool rejected approaches from Ipswich and Crystal Palace for Doak in January.”

He added: “They preferred he stayed on loan at Boro and continued his development, with the idea his readiness for the Liverpool first-team would be assessed in pre-season this summer.”

The winger, who scored three goals during a loan spell at Middlesbrough, is valued at £25-30 million despite limited first-team minutes at Anfield.

Liverpool blocked Premier League approaches for Doak in January, prioritizing his development at Championship level.

However, with Slot set to assess academy talents in preseason, Everton’s audacious bid tests the Reds’ resolve.

Liverpool paid Celtic just £600,000 for him in 2022, and with a sell-to-buy policy this summer, he could be one of the players moved on.

The last time Liverpool directly sold a player to Everton was in 2002, when Portuguese defender Abel Xavier moved from Everton to Liverpool for around £800,000.

Since then, no player has transferred directly between the Merseyside rivals, making such moves extremely rare in the modern era.

If Ben Doak were to make the switch this summer, it would be the first direct transfer between the clubs in over 20 years.
