Everton Under-18s ran out emphatic winners in the mini, mini Merseyside derby as they won 3-0 away at Liverpool on Saturday in the final match of the season.

Goals from Braiden Graham, George Morgan and Harvey Foster sealed victory for the clinical Blues as the Reds were left to curse missed opportunities.

Goalkeeper Douglass Lukjanciiks guessed correctly to keep out a second half penalty from Josh Sonni-Lambie, while Oli O’Connor and substitutes Kareem Ahmed and Joe Bradshaw all missed good chances as Liverpool tried in vain to launch a comeback.

It means Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s last match as Reds Under-18s manager ended in defeat after a difficult season for Liverpool.

The young Reds started the game the better and had the first chance of the day after an early corner, only for Louis Enaharo-Marcus to not connect cleanly with his shot.

Kornel Misciur denied Everton a second moments later, saving well with his feet to keep out a low short across goal.

But the goalkeeper could do little to deny the Blues a second when Morgan doubled the visitors’ lead as they again beat Liverpool on the counter.

Getting the ball back, he turned Pinnington well in the box, but was denied by a fine save from Misciur.

Misciur was called into action again moments later as he stood tall to deny Everton from point-blank range, but was left unsighted when Foster recovered possession and drilled home across goal into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Liverpool then won a penalty with 15 minutes left to play after Ngumoha was brought down in the box.

Sonni-Lambie stepped up but was unable to take advantage of the chance as Lukjanciks dived the right way to keep out his low spot-kick.

Substitute Ahmed then missed a great from close-range after Ngumoha cut the ball back into the six-yard box, only to fire straight at Lukjanciks at the near post.

Bradshaw nearly made an immediate impact after getting in behind the defence, only to rifle just wide of the far post.

At the other end, Misciur was called into action twice more to keep out shots from close-range to deny Everton extending their lead further.

But it mattered not as the Blues wrapped up the season with a convincing victory.
