Ex-Fifa official: Liverpool may be blocking landmark change after new twist Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League clubs may be stopping the audio of conversations between referees and VAR from being released, according to Keith Hackett.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters hinted to Sky Sports that it is something he wanted to do.

“I think it would enhance the process, I don’t think it would intefere.

ESPN reported earlier this month (3 August) that the Premier League would not be releasing the audio at the beginning of the season but that might change later down the line.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee suggested clubs do not want it in the open because it could harm appeals against red cards.

“One of the difficulties is, if a player is dismissed, the video evidence is part of the case against that player,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

In other news, Liverpool could sell Naby Keita on one condition amid a journalist’s update.
