Reactions and congratulatory messages from former Liverpool players have been flooding in after the Reds secured a record-equalling 20th league crown on Sunday.

Arne Slot’s men did what many players before them failed to do, by winning the Premier League title in front of a jubilant Anfield crowd.

Tottenham Hotspur were the last foe to be vanquished to ensure that the title was in the bag with four games to go.

The North London club started out well and looked primed to delay the title party when they went ahead early in the game through ex-Liverpool man Dominic Solanke.

But Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah ensured that, for the first time in four years, we finally have another name on the Premier League trophy.

With the title, Liverpool are now level with rivals Manchester United for the most league titles ever.

They have also pulled clear of other teams in England in terms of the most major trophies won.

The Reds are on 47 major honours (20 league titles, eight FA Cups, 10 League Cups, six European Cups and three UEFA Cups), three clear of their eternal rivals, Manchester United (44).

After the game, several former stars sent their reactions and congratulations to the club.

One of the first ex-players to react to Liverpool’s triumph was Luis Suarez!

The Uruguayan was one of the former Reds stars who came agonisingly close to winning the title during the 2013/14 season when Brendan Rodgers’ side lost the title to Manchester City by two points.

Posting under Liverpool’s post on X, Suarez posted a ‘sad’ emoji that appeared to suggest he was unhappy at not being able to win the title at the club.

However, that was not his only reaction to Liverpool’s title triumph, though, with another the club’s post seeing him react by sending a ‘love’  emoji.

Suarez’s teammate and Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, also reacted to his boyhood club’s title win on Sunday.

After the final whistle, club legend Gerrard shared Liverpool’s official Premier League title win post and included a star-eyed emoji.

Former Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan, who spent two seasons at the club, also sent a congratulatory message to his former side on Instagram.

“Congratulations to @liverpoolfc on winning the Premier League title!,” Klavan wrote.

“An incredible achievement built on passion, hard work, and belief — and now 20 league titles to match it!

Proud to be part of the Liverpool family forever.”

Liverpool legend, Sir Kenny Dalglish, also took to social media to send in his reaction.

Posting a video of himself celebrating the win at Anfield alongside supporters, the former Liverpool player and manager wrote:

“This is what it means to Liverpool Football Club?

Anfield cult-hero Lucas Leiva was not left out of the party, with the Brazilian celebrating the win with  an X post that said:
“Get in Liverpool,” followed by two love emojis.
