Wrexham are reportedly setting their sights on former Liverpool star Danny Ings as they aim to compete in the Championship.

The Red Dragons have already been linked with several top-tier players with international experience, including Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson and defender Aaron Cresswell, who is set to leave West Ham as a free agent.

According to the Daily Mail, Wrexham are now hoping to make an audacious bid for another Hammers player, Ings.

However, an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury significantly affected his time at Anfield due to a lengthy spell out of action.

Despite eventually falling out of favour, Ings was highly regarded by then-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Honestly, if you could bottle his character and spirit, his would sell worldwide - he is so incredibly positive and full of energy.

"But we won't just miss his character, because he is a footballer who has all the tools.

What is clear is that in his time here he had zero luck really, certainly in my time.

"Before joining I tried to watch as many games on tape as I could from the season so far and Danny Ings stood out as someone I was really looking forward to coaching."

Ings later delighted fans at Southampton with an impressive record of 46 goals in 100 appearances between 2018 to 2021, before transferring to Aston Villa in a deal believed to be worth approximately £25million.

Ings made 52 outings and bagged 14 goals with Villa, before joining West Ham in January 2023.

Head coach Graham Potter said: "Aaron, Lukasz, Vladimir and Danny have been a pleasure to work with in my time here so far.

"[They are] all brilliant professionals on and off the pitch, with fantastic experience in the Premier League, and clearly loved and admired by their team-mates and everyone here at the club.

"We felt it was important to confirm this news now, out of respect for them and the service they have given to the club, and to allow our supporters to show their appreciation at our final home match of the season."

Meanwhile, Wrexham boss Parkinson is prepared to take his time in securing his targets this summer.
