Former Sutton United goalkeeper Wayne Shaw is shocked by the leniency shown to released Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge for breaching betting rules.

“I said 'What am I guilty of, I'm guilty of eating f***ing pie!'

But ex-Sutton keeper Shaw received a two-month suspension and a £375 fine after eating a pie during the FA Cup game with Arsenal in February 2017.

I lost my livelihood.

He lost his job at Sutton and was found guilty by the FA of “influencing a football betting market" after it emerged a bookie had taken money on him scoffing a pie.

Sturridge was banned for a fortnight and fined £75,000 by the FA.

Shaw, 48, told The Sun: “It is one rule for one and another for everyone else.
