Liverpool’s 22-year-old defender may finally be promoted to the club’s first team under Arne Slot.

With Arne Slot likely taking charge of Liverpool next season, it’s going to be a fresh slate for most of the squad.

Interestingly, when Van den Berg joined PEC Zwolle as a youth player, Slot was still playing for the club’s senior side back in 2012.

Van den Berg has always been highly rated since making his debut in the Eredivisie and signing for Liverpool.

Given the Dutch connection and the fact that Liverpool are light in the centre-back department, it would not be a surprise to see Van den Berg promoted into the first team.

As mentioned previously, Van den Berg is really highly rated by Liverpool.

Earlier this season he even matched Van Dijk’s aerial numbers, and it would be a shame if he wasn’t given a chance at least in pre-season for Liverpool this summer.
