Liverpool have confirmed the permanent transfer of 19-year-old forward Ben Doak to AFC Bournemouth. Doak has signed a five-year contract with Bournemouth for a reported fee around £25 million, which includes a buy-back option for Liverpool.
Doak, a Scotland international, initially joined Liverpool from Celtic in 2022 for approximately £600,000. Since then, he made 10 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool. The 2024-25 season saw him on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, where he contributed 10 goal involvements (3 goals and 7 assists) in 24 appearances before a January hamstring injury curtailed his season.
Bournemouth see Doak as a direct replacement for Dango Ouattara, who recently moved to Brentford for £42.5 million. The signing strengthens the Cherries’ attacking options under manager Andoni Iraola. Doak expressed enthusiasm about joining Bournemouth, highlighting the club’s fast, attractive style of play as a key factor in his decision.
This transfer represents another significant outgoing deal for Liverpool during a busy summer, where the club has surpassed £200 million in player sales, including departures of high-profile players like Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool have reinvested heavily, spending over £320 million on new signings this summer.
Ben Doak could potentially make his debut for Bournemouth soon, with the team’s next Premier League match against Wolves.
